Objective:
In order to streamline operations and enhance decision-making, I developed a comprehensive database using Excel spreadsheets to track key sales and inventory metrics for Tire Panda. This project aimed to provide valuable insights into tire sales trends, helping me optimize inventory management and improve profitability. The database allowed me to track sales volume, profit margins, tire sizes, and turnover rates in different markets, enabling me to make data-driven decisions on inventory purchasing and routing.
Key Responsibilities & Tasks:
Data Collection & Organization:
I gathered and organized key sales data, including sales volume, profit, cost, and location (market), into a well-structured Excel spreadsheet. The goal was to track and analyze which tire sizes sold best in specific markets, how long inventory took to sell, and the overall profitability of each tire size.
Market & Product Analysis:
By analyzing this data, I identified which tire sizes and types were most popular in specific locations. I was able to pinpoint high-demand tire sizes and route inventory to those markets, ensuring better stock turnover and increased sales. The analysis also revealed profit margins for each tire size, helping guide purchasing decisions and determining the optimal amount of inventory to keep.
Turnover Rate & Inventory Strategy:
One of the key aspects of this project was evaluating inventory turnover rates—how long certain tires sat in stock before being sold. If certain tires took too long to sell, I would remove them from the inventory plan and stop stocking them in the future. This approach helped optimize inventory levels and reduced waste.
Database Implementation & Decision Making:
The database became an essential tool for managing inventory purchases and deciding where to route certain tire sizes. It helped optimize stock levels in various markets and allowed for more accurate forecasting of tire demand.
Optimization & Continuous Improvement:
As the database evolved, I refined it by adding new metrics to further improve the decision-making process. By tracking sales trends over time, I was able to continuously improve my inventory management strategy and make more accurate, data-driven purchasing decisions.
